Testing Polyether-based Polyurethane (PUR) CMX Cable Markers
CMX Polyether-based PUR Cable Markers are a Halogen free, flame-retardant solution to cable labelling, commonly used in construction, telecoms wind and solar power industries and commercial electrical installations.
The following tests have been conducted to evaluate the physical, thermal, and chemical properties ensuring the extreme durability and performance of these military grade products:
Physical Properties:
- Stress at 20% strain: Tested using DIN 53504 (13 MPa).
- Stress at 100% elongation: Tested using DIN 53504 (19 MPa).
- Stress at 300% elongation: Tested using DIN 53504 (33 MPa).
- Density: Tested using DIN 53479 (1.27 g/cm³).
- Tensile Strength: Tested using DIN 53504 (30 MPa).
- Elongation at break: Tested using DIN 53504 (400%).
- Charpy Notched Impact Strength:
- -30°C: Tested using DIN EN ISO 179 (3 kJ/m²).
- 23°C: Tested using DIN EN ISO 179 (50 kJ/m²).
- Tensile Strength after storage in water at 80°C for 42 days: Tested using DIN 53504 (20 MPa).
- Compression Set:
- Room temperature, 24h: Tested using DIN EN ISO 815 (30%).
- 70°C, 24h: Tested using DIN EN ISO 815 (45%).
- Tear Strength: Tested using DIN 53515 (110 N/mm).
- Abrasion Resistance: Tested using DIN 53516 (30 mm³ loss).
- Shore Hardness: Tested using DIN 53505 (58 Shore D).
Thermal Properties:
- Glass Transition Temperature: Tested using ISO 11357-1/-2 (-44°C).
- Burning Behaviour:
- 0.75 mm thickness: Tested using UL94 (Class V-2).
- 3.0 mm thickness: Tested using UL94 (Class V-0).
- Oxygen Index: Tested using ISO 4589-1/-2 (24%).
Chemical Properties:
- Chemical Resistance:
- Solvent Resistance: Tested using MIL-STD-202G Test Method 215.
- Swelling and Tensile Strength Reduction: Tested by immersing rods (DIN EN ISO 527-2) in various solvents for three weeks at 23°C.
Environmental Properties:
- UV Stability:
- UV-A 340 nm: Tested for 500 hours with light irradiation, spray, and condensation cycles. Results: No creasing or cracking; Mark Adherence: Good contrast and visibility.
- Xenon Lamp Test: Tested for 500 hours with light and spray cycles. Results: No creasing or cracking; Mark Adherence: Good contrast and visibility.
